Major Konstantin Komarov is a retired Russian Special Forces officer, having served with both GRU and elite MVD Spetsnaz units, and is a decorated war veteran. He holds a Ph.D. in Psychology, and continues to provide training and consulting services to various Russian military and Spetsnaz units. He was integrally involved in the development of Russia’s counter-terror tactics, including its terrorist-hostage negotiation techniques. Major Komarov has served as the principal negotiator in numerous terrorist-hostage sieges, and was part of the negotiating team at the Nord Ost Theater siege in Moscow in October 2002, where he developed psychological profiles on the identified terrorists, among his other duties.
